The amount of people I see saying that they can't make art and/or they suck at it, that is completely normal for someone to say.

It's okay for someone to be not good at making art, and that's what makes us human; having different skills of making art. Nobody gets good at making art at the same rate. I'd know since it took me years to get to where I am at now.

But what I have to agree with is that just saying this won't cut it forever. if you want to get better at making art, having a fixed mindset like this by just constantly saying that you suck at making art isn't going to get you anywhere in that case. You need to have a growth mindset; one that turns your "I can't do this" to "I can't do this...yet".

See the difference between those two sentences? Sure, that may seem like I'm just saying the same sentence, but just that "yet" makes a big difference. If you say that you can't do something, that means you've come to a complete halt on it. If you say that you can't do something yet, then you've paused progress on it for now so you can come back to it at a later time.

That's the sort of mindset you need to have for making art. Art doesn't just appear out of thin air. It starts with making something random until it looks good to you only. Even if they're not artists, people make random shit so that they can get better at making art. Why not you? If you can scribble around with something as an idea for the art you want, you can turn that small doodle into an even bigger thing, and you can make even better art as you keep practicing.

Which is another thing when making art: correlation may not equal causation--so practice does not make perfect whatsoever, but through being open to experimentation and trial-and-error, practice will absolutely make better. If you can bring yourself into making random doodles of things, you can bring yourself to turn them into full products.
